Had another good sleep.
Last night had fun watching Angnuru and Nawang baiting yaks. Not so brave ...
0830 start on quite a long haul. Walked up the hill behind Pheriche and ground our way along the valley. Again, spectacular mountain views. Stopped by a couple of very old yak huts made of stone with slate roofs and turf on top.
Turned into a pretty hard uphill slog which began to take its toll on the team. Stephen was already carrying a gastric bug and spewed and pooed his way to Lobuche but was so strong!
The altitude also started to take its toll on Leeza. We stopped by a large number of stone memorials including ones to Scott Fischer others who have died on Everest - quite chilling. Rob Hall's is not there, but some distance away at his family's request.
Lobuche is pretty basic! We went for an acclimatisation walk to 5,000 m before back down to 4,930m to the lodge. Was very hot and smoky inside and Rob nearly fainted during dinner. The doctor at Pheriche and the lodge owner at Lobuche both told us that this is where the "rubber hits the road" as far as altitude effects go. The "not-well" roll call was the highest so far on the trip.
