Day 8 - 6 May (Lobuche - Gorak Shep)

Late start today as "short walk". Breakfast at 8:30. Had another good nights sleep, although had to get up once as had filled the pee bottle! About 30% of the conversation on this trip now covers toilet issues ...
Unfortunately Leeza had to stay behind as her weak condition meant she could not afford to go any higher until she stabilises - a real shame to leave her behind.
Rob's 50th today, so I managed to be the first to wish him Happy Birthday before our room got crowded with the team. We gave him a card with a picture of a print of Sir Ed that Megan had organised.
The walk to Gorak Shep turned out to three hours instead of two. We saw a couple of pheasants, robins and a little rodent called a paka.
The khumbu glacier is spectacular and the scale is extraordinary. Greens and blues can be seen in amongst the white ice and stone.
Adam Parore's camp

We had an 'R' party for Rob's birthday with rappers, robot (me), rabbits, rastas, Richard Simmons ... the locals were bemused. Louise got Nawang and and Angnuru to help her sing to Rob - very cool! Hari Singh from Manukau had arranged for a birthday cake!
Big day, early start tomorrow, so 8:00 bed.
